The overall index is constructed from a set of domain indicators which are weighted and combined together. 2007 & 2004 Domains: Income deprivation, Employment deprivation, Health deprivation and disability, Education, skills and training (children / young people sub-domain, skills sub-domain), Barriers to housing and services (wider barriers sub-domain, geographical barriers sub-domain), Crime, The living environment (the indoors living sub-domain, the outdoors living sub-domain).","objectives":"The Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) is a nationally recognised measure of deprivation at the small area (Super Output Area - SOA) level. It measures deprivation in its broadest sense by assessing indicators relating to income, employment, health and disability, education, skills and training, barriers to housing and services, crime and the living environment. The IMD 2010 updates the IMD 2007, for the most part retaining the same methodology, domains and indicators.
